职总就业与职能培训中心 开办首个资料保护专员培训课程，职总就业与职能培训中心和个人资料保护方案顾问公司Straits Interactive合作，开办首个资料保护专员培训课程，为私人企业培训相关员工。就业与职能培训中心将赞助一半的学费。个人资料保护法将在7月2日正式生效，按照政府规定，每家公司都必须指派至少一名员工担任“资料保护专员”（Data Protection Officer），负责公司在保护顾客个人资料方面的工作。他们必须了解法令内容，以及在公司推行防止顾客资料泄露的措施，确保公司的运作符合个人资料保护法。
尽管个人资料保护委员会自去年开始便积极向私人业界宣传个人资料保护法，但仍有许多公司并不清楚具体该制定什么工作程序，尤其是中小企业。根据职总就业与职能培训中心（e2i）昨天发表的文告，公司可派员工接受资料保护专员培训课程，以进一步了解资料保护专员的职责，掌握审查公司运作程序的知识。课程分四堂课，学员将在培训员的指导下，核查自己公司在运作上是否符合个人资料保护条例，从中找出弊端并提出解决方案。Interactive公司负责，首批学员将从6月19日开始上课，每一批大约是20名学员。派员工受训的企业须预付4999元学费，过后可向就业与职能培训中心申请取回半额。，新的课程讲究应用性，通过实际操作，学员可快速掌握相关专业知识。
Concerns over the collection, use and disclosure of personal data in Singapore gave rise to the passing of the Personal Data Protection Act in late 2012.
