一、在什么情况下需要助学金申请自述
助学金申请自述并不是所有申请者都需要的。一般在以下两种情况下会需要助学金申请自述：
1、有些学校在给予申请者admission之后，需要申请者提交助学金申请自述申请助学金。
2、在申请者拿到录取之后，虽然学校没有明文规定需要助学金申请自述，但是作为申请者可以写一份自述作为补充材料进行提交。
二、助学金申请自述的分类
助学金一般是两种：TA（TeachingAssistantship）和RA（ResearchAssistantship），也有学校提供给学生行政助学金。
那么助学金自述也分为三类：TA自述，RA自述和行政助学金自述。三种自述因为需要从事的工作是不一样的，所以自述的侧重点也是不一样的。

（1）TA申请自述
TA是从事教学工作，或者作为教授的助手。所以在写自述的时候，必须表现出作为一名教师的实力和潜力。
